RULES OF EPIC QUEST

If you need assistance during Epic Quest, please email [email protected] or send a message via Facebook Messenger to Awesome Con or Rose City Comic Con. Someone will be there to help you in a timely manner, however—for you night owls—keep in mind you may not get a response to overnight issues until the morning.

  • First and foremost, mini quest submissions should have nothing but positive vibes. Isn’t there enough negativity in the world already? Epic Quest is meant to be a FUN escape into fantasy, so let’s keep it that way!
  • All mini quest submissions must be family-friendly. Please refrain from sending content that contains nudity, profanity, hate speech, or imagery of people getting hurt.
  • Proof of the completion of mini-quests must be submitted via our official Epic Quest hunt within the game app. Any submissions made via email or social media will not count.
  • Mini quest submissions will only be accepted during the weekend of the event between the official start time of September 11 at 12:00 AM PDT and the official end time of September 13 at 11:59 PM PDT. Unless specified in the mini quest, all photo and video submissions should be created during the 72 hours of Epic Quest.
  • While LeftField Media staff will be doing a thorough evaluation of the top teams on the morning of Monday, September 14th, they will also be monitoring submissions throughout the weekend. Posts that are not family-friendly will be deleted immediately. If LeftFieldMedia staff notices your submission is not in compliance with the rules or does not fulfill the mini quest requirements, they may flag it. If you have a flagged submission, we suggest you redo it or you will likely lose points at the conclusion of the game.
  • To redo a mini quest, select the photo or video in the app and look for the ellipses (…) in the bottom right corner. Click that and select the option to retake the photo or video. You cannot redo a Pop Quiz mini quest.
  • All submissions must be completed by a registered member of the team. Children 10 and under may assist with the mini quests without being registered, but they must use the same device as a registered teammate.
  • Each teammate is allowed to use only one (1) device when playing, which should be a smartphone with access to the internet that is capable of taking photos and videos, as well as downloading apps. Additional devices used (meaning more than six (6) maximum, or one (1) per teammate) could result in an additional charge from ShowClix at the completion of Epic Quest.
  • ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE VIEWABLE TO OTHER GAME PLAYERS and may be shared on LeftField Media’s social media accounts, website, and advertising. Please do not submit imagery of anybody who has not consented to this condition.
  • Submissions must follow the mini quest guidelines as closely as possible. For example, if the challenge requires wearing a “wacky outfit” we expect you to have belts on your heads and shoes on your hands. Obviously there is no hard-and-fast rule on what qualifies as wacky, goofy, strange, scary, unusual, etc… but know that your submissions are being judged by a human being, not a computer, and phoning in your submissions could get points docked from your final score! The same logic applies to obvious rush jobs. For example, if you’re asked to draw a picture of a teammate, a hastily scribbled stick figure isn’t going to cut it! Put some solid effort into your submissions. You don’t have to be GOOD at drawing, but we do need evidence that you put in some time into the piece.

  • LeftField Media staff has the final say regarding the deduction of points for sub-par mini quest submissions. While there is no fail-proof way to ensure all mini-quests are completed in full compliance with the rules, the LeftField Media staff has every intention of being fair and unbiased with their reviews, so we hope our players have every intention of submitting honest, thoughtful mini quest submissions. After all, there is no honor in a heartless victory!
  • LeftField Media reserves the right to disqualify and eliminate teams, without refund, who do not follow the rules or who submit negative or inappropriate submissions.
  • When the competition officially ends on September 13th at 11:59 PM PDT, the teams with the most points are not guaranteed to be the winners. LeftField Media staff will review the top team’s mini quest submissions to ensure everything was submitted properly. The Grand Prize Winners will be officially announced via social media and email on the afternoon of Monday, September 14th!
  • Should there be a tie, the teams involved will be asked to participate in a tiebreaker which will be revealed on that Monday.

IMPORTANT AND HELPFUL TIPS FOR EPIC QUEST

Get ready for what’s in store with these helpful tips from our staff! Remember, when questing, it’s always best to be preapred for anything!

  1. Most mini-quests require you to submit a photo or video. The Scavify app allows you to upload photos and videos from your phone or record directly from the app.
  2. The Scavify app will only accept photo submissions that are square. The app allows you to crop, but keep the dimensions in mind when you’re taking photos so that important aspects don’t get cropped out!
  3. Some mini quests will ask you to send a photo collage. Please make sure to download a photo collage app before the Epic Quest begins. Some good ones are: Layout from Instagram: Collage or Collage Maker. Unless otherwise stated in the mini quest description, a collage should always contain a minimum of 4 photos.
  4. Sometimes you will be asked to include text with a photo submission. You can attach a handwritten note as a photo collage, place a handwritten note into your original photo, or use an app to write over your original photo. The writing must be legible, or it won’t count, so make sure we can read it!
  5. Video submissions on Scavify are restricted to a 15 seconds maximum. We recommend learning how to trim the length of videos on your phone before the Epic Quest starts in case any of your recordings run long. If a 15 second video submission is only 13-14 seconds due to editing, you will not be docked points.
  6. Some mini quests require you to video chat with someone, so make sure you know how to use Facetime, Zoom, Hangouts, or some other video calling application.
  7. Some mini quests require you to send a time-lapse video. We recommend learning how to make a time-lapse or hyperlapse video on your phone before the Epic Quest starts.
  8. Some mini quests involve good old fashioned paper and pen… or crayons, colored pencils, markers, Sharpies, whatever you choose! Make sure you have some around the house.
  9. Some mini quests ask you to create things based on the LeftField Media show mascots, Awesome Bot and Dave the Sasquatch. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see what they look like!
  10. Some mini-quests ask you to share things on your personal social media accounts. If you don’t wish other players to see your social media handles, be sure to blur them out before submitting. In addition to posting on your social media accounts, you also must submit a screenshot of your post within the app to earn points.
  11. Submissions should have positive vibes only. Isn’t there enough negativity in the world already? Epic Quest is meant to be a FUN escape into fantasy, so let’s keep it that way!
  12. All submissions must be family-friendly. Please refrain from sending content that contains nudity, profanity, hate speech, or imagery of people getting hurt.
